Apple plunges as outlook disappoints

Shares in Apple fell more than 12 per cent in after-hours trading on Tuesday as jittery investors took fright at the company’s second-quarter forecast, which fell short of most Wall Street expectations.

The slide, which came as Apple handily beat forecasts for the quarter ended in December, underscored the darkening mood on Wall Street following sharp falls in world equity markets this week.
