Black prosecution ‘had no evidence’

Prosecutors in the fraud trial of Conrad Black tried to prejudice the jury with “fancy pillows and marble elephants” and other details of the former executive’s privileged life because they had no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, his attorneys said in their closing argument on Tuesday.

“Conrad is different than you and me. He is a rich man. But in America, you do not convict someone for being rich,” said Edward Greenspan, a Canadian lawyer who is representing the former newspaper baron.
