Chile's top court yesterday ruled that Alberto Fujimori, Peru's former president, will be extradited to face charges of human rights abuse and embezzlement, making him the first former head of state to face trial at home for such crimes.
Mr Fujimori, 69, will face trial in Peru for the murder of 25 people, including an eight-year-old boy, by an army death squad. He will also face corruption charges, including allegations he embezzled $15m (€10.6m, £7.5m) to pay a golden handshake to his ex-spymaster.
