Fixing Global Finance
By Martin Wolf
The Johns Hopkins University $24.95
This is an ambitious book by one of the most respected financial journalists of our time. Despite the title, it is not about the current financial crisis, at least not directly. But it is about something equally important, which may have played a big role in the crisis. Martin Wolf, the Financial Times chief economics commentator, wants to explain how the richest country in the world ends up absorbing 70 per cent of the world’s savings and whether this is a sustainable and desirable state of affairs.
