New agency to help on housing

Attempts to tackle the nation’s housing shortage were placed squarely at the heart of Gordon Brown’s first term in office yesterday with the publication of a bill aimed at boosting supply.

The Queen described “available and affordable housing” as one of the government’s main priorities and promised the establishment of a homes and communities agency to co-ordinate policy.
