Opprobrium was poured on Hillary Clinton's campaign yesterday amid allegations that an aide had circulated a photograph showing Barack Obama dressed as a Somali Muslim elder.

The picture, taken two years ago when Mr Obama was on a five-nation tour of Africa, was circulated by Clinton staffers, according to the Drudge Report, which is one of the most popular internet outlets for gossip and political smear.
