Gold sinks to weakest level for year

Gold sank to its lowest level of the year on Tuesday while crude oil continued to retreat but agricultural commodities consolidated following the latest supply update from the US Department of Agriculture.

Gold dropped to $802.90 a troy ounce, its weakest level since late December, before recovering to trade around $814.50, down 0.6 per cent on the day.
