MEPs’ home from home ruled unsafe

The secret wishes of many Members of the European Parliament were answered on Thursday as the institution’s monthly trek to Strasbourg was cancelled after its grand hemicycle was declared structurally unsound.

A collapsed ceiling in the parliament’s occasional home earlier this month has succeeded in halting the move – albeit temporarily – where decades of low-level grumbling by MEPs has failed.
