China plans to hold a quiet funeral on Saturday for Zhao Ziyang, the ousted former Communist party chief who died on January 17, offering little of the ceremony usually accorded to senior leaders.
The State Council, China's cabinet, said on Thursday that most journalists would not be permitted to attend the "farewell to the body" - an event far more restrained than a state funeral - with only state news agency Xinhua authorised to report on proceedings.
