Studios in push to end writers’ strike

The three-month writers’ strike that has paralysed Hollywood is close to being resolved after the chief executives of Walt Disney and News Corp intervened to thrash out an outline deal with the writers’ union.

Bob Iger, chief executive of Disney, and Peter Chernin, chief executive of News Corp, attended secret talks with leaders of the Writers Guild of America on Friday.
