Chief bows out before BT’s £10bn connection

Ben Verwaayen will doubtless be in typically combative form when he presents his last set of annual results as BT chief executive this week.

But having led a BT renaissance after assuming the top job in 2002, he risks going out on a low note rather than a high one because of a series of difficult issues that came to the fore late last year.
