Iraqi Sunni Muslims living in Damascus, the Syrian capital, turned out to vote in large numbers on Wednesday, the second day Iraqi expatriates went to the polls and a day before parliamentary elections in Iraq itself.

Many said it was the first time they had voted, illustrating the effect of a call by some important Sunni parties to participate.
