Recession fears hit European stocks

European construction stocks fell after Holcim, the world’s second-biggest cement maker, announced gloomy results amid fresh evidence the eurozone was sinking into recession.

Holcim, of Switzerland, said it would miss its profits target this year because of high energy costs and slowing construction in the US and Europe.
