Iraq parliament reverses controversial ruling

Under international pressure for a legitimate referendum process, Iraq's parliament decided on Wednesday to reverse its ruling that different definitions of “voter” would apply in counting Yes and No votes over a hotly disputed “federalist” draft constitution.

Reversing the draft has partly placated Sunni Arab political leaders and appears to have averted another electoral boycott by Iraq's formerly dominant minority at a critical stage in the US-backed political process.
