Boston Globe union approves cost cuts

The largest of Boston Globe’s labour unions on Monday approved a $10m package of cost cuts, paving the way for an eventual sale of the New York Times-owned newspaper.

The Boston Newspaper Guild, which represents about 700 employees, voted by a two-to-one margin to accept the cuts, according to a notice on the Boston Globe website, removing a major hurdle to discussions with potential buyers.
