BT shares at lowest level since flotation

BT shares suffered their largest one-day fall on Friday, dropping to their lowest level since the company’s flotation in 1984, after a profit warning.

The UK’s leading fixed-line telephone company saw its shares tumble 19 per cent to 115.1p after it said group earnings were expected to fall in 2008-09 because of problems at its division serving multinationals.
