Rolls-Royce has become the latest industrial group to sound a more optimistic tone, raising its forecast for the full year after a strong performance in its marine business and good cost control overall.
Sir John Rose, chief executive at the aero-engine group, now expects underlying profit for the full year to be “modestly higher” than 2009. The company had forecast a flat performance at its full-year results in February. Earlier on Thursday, Siemens, Europe’s largest engineering group, had lifted its own outlook.
