Bureaucracy: Cutting red tape online

José Sócrates, the prime minister, confesses that one of his government’s most emblematic measures in the business sector was inspired by the “dark side of capitalism”.

The idea has made it possible to set up a company in Portugal, a country not previously famed for the speed of its bureaucracy, faster than anywhere else in the European Union.
