Xstrata sounding out potential suitors over takeover possibilities

Xstrata, the world's sixth-largest mining company, is open to discussions with potential suitors, including Vale and Anglo American, according to people close to the situation.

Mick Davis, chief executive of Xstrata, has asked his advisers Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan Cazenove to take seriously any interested parties.
