Musharraf’s poll strategy in ruins

This year was supposed to be one in which General Pervez Musharraf manoeuvred his way carefully and quietly through elections and kept his cherished places as Pakistan’s president and chief of the military staff.

But after more than two months of protests against his attack on an important civilian institution, with the suspension of the chief justice of the supreme court on vague charges of misconduct, those plans have been dealt yet another blow.
