Once seen as the grey men of capitalism – counting the profits rather than creating them – the troubles at Enron, Worlcom et al have made financial professionals seem a whole lot more interesting.

Now they can either be corporate sleuths, following the trail of hot money, or, at worst, accessories to the crime, helping villainous chief executives in “burying the bodies”.
