Can small independent companies also be successful? It is a conundrum that has challenged business owners for generations, but one that Jamie Hutchinson and Dawn Mannis believe they can crack.

The couple have chosen what is already a crowded and cut-throat market – selling wine from high street shops. And the trouble with selling wine, and the reason why most of the market has been snared by supermarkets and warehouse operators with vast economies of scale, is that drinkers tend to buy on price.
