Brown fights back as popularity plummets

Gordon Brown will today throw his weight behind a radical overhaul of care for Britain’s ageing population in an attempt to kick start the revival of his beleaguered premiership.

In a speech to an audience of social care professionals in London, Mr Brown will say that a root and branch reform of the system of care and support for the elderly and the disabled is an issue at the heart of his ambition to create “a fairer Britain”.
