For 50 weeks a year the Isle of Man takes life at the kind of pace your doctor would deem perfect for a long and healthy existence. For the other two it drapes itself in leather and sucks in thousands of thrill-seekers for what are described as the world’s greatest, and equally the most dangerous motorcycle road races – the TT.
The event celebrated its centenary in 2007 and sent out a defiant message to doubters who have dared to suggest that this is a battle between man and machine from which man should now bow out gracefully.
