Nato forces in Afghanistan have been given the green light to take action against key figures in the country’s multi-million dollar drugs trade in a new attempt to undermine the financial base of the Taliban insurgency.
In a potentially significant move that has been pressed for by the US, Nato forces will be allowed to attack Afghanistan’s narcotics laboratories, trafficking networks and drug lords, aiming to undermine a business that is critical in sustaining the Taliban.
