Eliot Spitzer, the New York attorney-general, on Monday warned radio groups that they would be the next focus of his investigation into improper payments in the music industry designed to increase the airplay of certain songs.

“The radio stations should be on notice,” Mr Spitzer said. “We have jurisdiction, and we will be taking a hard look at their behaviour.”
