Banks seek dismissal of charge claims

High-street banks are set to write to hundreds of county courts asking them to strike out consumer claims, following their Supreme Court victory on bank charges for unauthorised overdrafts.

Lloyds Banking Group, which is the largest provider of personal current accounts and owns Halifax, said on Friday it would be asking the county and sheriff courts to dismiss any claims.
