Google weighs in against Microsoft

Google was yesterday preparing to take a strong public stance against Microsoft's unsolicited takeover offer for Yahoo, arguing that it could open the way for the software group to extend its monopoly to the internet.

The intervention is the latest twist in the growing enmity between the two companies, and echoes Microsoft's own strident denunciation of Google's proposed acquisition of online advertising company DoubleClick.
