Arcandor chief executive Karl-Gerhard Eick has said he is confident the troubled German retailer is “on the right track” for help from the German government after a “very good” meeting with officials late on Thursday.
Mr Eick lobbied for a state guarantee for a €650m ($918m) loan that the retailer needs to roll over by June 12 or face insolvency. The request has stimulated heated debate in Berlin about helping failing companies.
