UK parties turn to US-style internet lobbying

Labour party members will be able to gain internet access to the phone numbers of voters in target seats, allowing them to call people to solicit support for the government, under a scheme being unveiled on Thursday.

The scheme is one of the online initiatives being trialled by Labour and the Conservatives, as the two main parties vie to ape the success of Barack Obama in recruiting an army of internet supporters and funders.
