Air taxis: Expansion of business travel faces its flight test

DayJet, the pioneering US air taxi service using very light jets (VLJs), will begin commercial operations in Florida after nearly a year of delays. The launch marks the start of an experiment that could transform regional private jet travel and could help determine the success of the new breed of VLJs.

The company, founded by Ed Iacobucci, former chairman of Citrix Systems, one of the world’s leading software groups, claims it is launching the world’s first “per-seat, on-demand jet service”. The operation will initially use a fleet of Eclipse 500s.
