UK expenses row culls more MPs

Three MPs agreed to stand down at the next election in the wake of the expenses furore, in an unprecedented bout of Westminster bloodletting on Thursday.

Two of the backbenchers in the eye of the media storm over MPs’ expenses claims – Julie Kirkbride, a Tory, and Labour’s Margaret Moran – both bowed to pressure to quit while insisting they had done nothing wrong.
