At least two protesters were killed, and several more wounded, as Honduran soldiers and riot police Sunday night tried to disperse thousands of protesters gathered at Tegucigalpa airport awaiting the return of Manuel Zelaya.

The clashes erupted as the ousted president’s aircraft was blocked from landing and directed to El Salvador, according to the interim government’s aviation agency.
