GKN, the autoparts and aerospace supplier, reported a heavy loss and warned of 2,400 job cuts this year as car sales continue to rapidly decline in the global slowdown.

The group said it had made a pre-tax loss of £130m in the full year to December 31, down from a profit of £199m the previous year.
