Prosecutors drop Labour donations probe

Prosecutors have dropped an investigation into a scandal over proxy-donations to the Labour party because of “insufficient evidence”, the Crown Prosecution Service said on Thursday.

Three former heads of the Labour party – Lord Triesman, Matthew Carter and Peter Watt – were the focus of a police probe after accepting incorrectly declared donations from David Abrahams, a property developer.
