Factory-gate inflation hit a 16-year high in November as manufacturers passed on rapidly rising food and fuel costs, according to official data that could heighten policymakers’ worries over rising inflationary pressures.
The Office for National Statistics said on Monday output prices rose 0.5 per cent between October and November, slightly above analysts’ expectations, taking the annual rate of inflation to 4.5 per cent, the highest since 1991.
