‘EBay-effect’ adds to value of household assets

Auction websites like Ebay boost the value of the average household’s assets by £3000 ($5,445) and give a hidden lift to retail sales, according to a new study.

The findings by the Centre for Economics and Business Research research show how websites such as Ebay, which traded goods worldwide worth $34bn last year, increase the value of household assets by offering a low cost opportunity for goods to be sold.
