Capital Radio and GWR will on Tuesday present merger proposals to Daily Mail & General Trust, the media group that is crucial to the union's success because of its 29.9 per cent stake in GWR.

The meeting, which was scheduled before Capital and GWR were forced to confirm their merger discussions over the weekend, will help both companies clarify any issues to be resolved before a further update is expected alongside Capital's trading update on September 29.
