Mixed fortunes seen by Centrica

Centrica, the owner of British Gas, is likely to meet market expectations of a drop in profits of about 4 per cent this year, following a fall in its gas production, the company said in a trading update.

However, profits from its residential supply business are expected to rise some 42 per cent to about £540m ($895m), leading to renewed calls for further cuts in household bills.
