S Korea watchdog urges bank stress tests

South Korea’s financial regulator is to ask local banks and brokerages to conduct a stress test on derivatives products they sell to assess what the potential impact of a financial crisis would be on their balance sheets.

The Financial Supervisory Service said on Monday the stress tests were part of efforts to prevent the systemic risks that potential derivative losses could bring to the financial sector.
