Curing possible conflicts

Bupa's interest in selling its hospital division has implications for the private hospital market, private medical insurance and potentially for the National Health Service.

While Bupa insisted yesterday that no decision has been taken - and underlined that no other part of the business, let alone the whole group is up for sale, in spite of interest from private equity - a disposal of the hospital side would cure a long-running sore.
