Johnston alert over ‘going concern’

Johnston Press underlined the fragile state of the UK newspaper industry by casting doubt on its ability to continue as a going concern after it revealed sharp losses prompted by falls in property, employment and motor advertising.

The owner of the Scotsman newspaper revealed a loss of £429.3m compared with a profit in the previous year of £124.7m, largely on the back of the impairment of goodwill and the value of publishing titles.
