Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation, a mining company based in Kazakhstan but listed in London, is suing the European Commission for up to €200m in damages over lost sales after Brussels imposed anti-dumping tariffs on the company last December.
Although the tariffs on silico-manganese, an ingredient in steel, were suspended the day after being set, ENRC said the threat of higher prices had caused customers to switch suppliers. It is thought to be among the biggest damages claims against the Commission’s trade department. ENRC is seeking to have the measures annulled.
