Jurors take pity on would-be al-Qaeda martyr

After two months of wrenching testimony and more than a week of deliberations, 12 US jurors on Wednesday offered Zacarias Moussaoui something he did not wish for – mercy.

In rejecting the death penalty, the jurors could have let him live to prevent him becoming the martyr for al-Qaeda he fervently wished to be.
