Retail sales rise at fastest for three years

Retail sales grew at their fastest rate in three years in April in the latest sign the UK economy is stabilising.

The value of sales at shops rose by 6.3 per cent in the month against a year earlier, after rising at 0.1 per cent in February and 0.6 per cent in March, data from the British Retail Consortium and KPMG showed.
