Crisis wipes £65bn from pensions

The average pension scheme of FTSE 100 companies saw the value of its assets crash by 17 per cent in 2008, wiping a total of £65bn from retirement funds, according to a study from Deloitte, the consulting firm.

FTSE 100 pension schemes are in deficit at year end by £130bn, Deloitte calculates.
