Canadian parties in coalition pact

The leaders of Canada's three opposition parties signed a historic deal yesterday committing them to bringing down the minority Conservative government and then forming a coalition government of their own.

The Liberals, New Democrats and separatist Bloc Québécois say the Conservatives - who won a strengthened minority in an October 14 election - are not doing enough to deal with the financial crisis.
