Green light for City airport flights

London City airport won planning permission on Wednesday night to increase the number of take-offs and landings by around 50 per cent.

The airport, which chiefly serves the financial services industry in the City of London and Canary Wharf business districts, has grown rapidly in recent years with passenger volumes rising by more than 20 per cent a year in both 2006 and 2007.
