Bakries and Northstar reshape Bumi deal

Indonesia’s powerful Bakrie family said on Friday it was forming a strategic partnership with Northstar Pacific, replacing an agreement to sell $1.3bn worth of shares in Bumi Resources to the private equity firm.

Under the deal, Northstar will take over $575m of Bumi’s debts in exchange for shares in the coal mining company.
