Hynix posts fifth straight quarterly loss

Hynix Semiconductor, the world’s second largest memory chipmaker, on Thursday reported its fifth straight quarterly loss as the industry’s chronic overcapacity drove down prices while demand fell.

The South Korean company joins industry leader Samsung Electronics and Taiwanese chipmakers in reporting heavy losses, hit by a sharp fall in chip prices.
